Unveiled in 1941 as a gift to the community from Governor Francis P. Murphy, the four-lane Candlepin Bowling Alley at the ELMM Community Center is a hidden gem in Winchester and a piece of local history that is still very much in use today.
Whether you grew up candlepin bowling or have never picked up a ball, our lanes are open to everyone. (You do not need to be a Winchester resident to bowl or to use any of the spaces or programs at the ELMMCC.)
Join us during scheduled Open Bowling hours, book the lanes for a private party or group, or talk with us about starting a league. We also offer seasonal youth league play during the winter months.
Looking for something a little different? Our lanes can transform for Galactic Bowling, complete with lights and music, stick with the traditional candlepin experience, or combine a little of both. Bowling shoes are included, and dedicated lockers are available for league bowlers.
Food can also be part of the experience, with options available from Hometown Eats & Treats on the front lawn or by combining your bowling reservation with a rental of our hall and kitchen spaces.
With just four lanes, bowling at the ELMMCC has the feel of a classic neighborhood bowling alley. Small, fun, and uniquely ours. For more than 85 years, these lanes have been part of the ELMMCC, and we’re proud to keep the tradition of candlepin bowling alive while welcoming bowlers from Winchester and throughout the region.
